Information About

A

Aphasia is a communication disorder that affects a person’s ability to speak, understand language, read, and write. It is most commonly caused by a stroke or brain injury but does not impact intelligence. People with aphasia may struggle to find words, form sentences, or follow conversations, but they can still think, feel, and engage with the world around them. With speech therapy, support, and patience, individuals with aphasia can improve their communication abilities.
